There are many things brewing as April drags us firmly into its second half—movings, endings, changes in location, changes of mind—and it has been something of a struggle to sit still. The last week or so I have found myself wondering (or more accurately lost myself wondering) a lot about importance, and where we place it, or what is deemed worthy of the word, how we often have a tendency to brush things off or demote them for fear of the important letting us down, or letting us go. If something is important, there seems to be just as much want to move away from it as there is towards; too much to think about or too unstable, too much but-this-might-all-go-wrong.
But I think actually, having found that which is important to us, we should run towards it at breakneck speed with eyes wide and arms flailing (or at the very least try this approach more often).
WORK-RELATED NEWS:
I'm patiently waiting (pacing) for the return of the copyedited manuscript, and in the meantime the last few illustrations are being drawn out of my head, loose ends being tied up as the universe fights to undo them. My hands ache, and I've used an absurd quantity of blue ink, but I'm incredibly pleased with what I have been able to produce, and feel overwhelmed by the fact that (relatively) soon, all of this will be inside a book, and both you and I will be able to clutch it.
