No.79
It's been a little while, and don't I know it (then again, if one of these happened consistently, I couldn't justify calling it a sometimes newsletter). This time last week I was headed to London, and at that time this week, I'll also head to London, I'm just vastly more prepared. For now, it's 7:30am, the birds with small lungs are doing their best to drown out the sounds of traffic, I already have black ink on most of my fingertips, and if I crane my neck to the right, the sky looks to be a perfectly cold, uniform shade of blue—almost as if, for now at least, it's in agreement with itself (which is more than most of us can say).
WORK-RELATED NEWS:
There was a very brief pause after I submitted the final artwork for the Universe Book (title to come soon, promises promises) and then everything happened. By everything, I specifically mean: I'm now about halfway through the lettering for the Brazilian Portuguese translation of Lost in Translation (oh, the never-ending irony), a process which takes a few weeks of reading translations several hundred times for fear that I might misplace a 'ç'. The copyedited manuscript for the universe has been returned to me, so next I go through this with a fine-toothed comb, responding to edits and generally being amazed that there are such caring and clever people working on this book.
We've also (since only yesterday) begun to discuss options for the Universe Book cover design, which feels like wow-heck-this-is-very-official-all-of-a-sudden. I'm obviously not panicking in any shape or form and remain calm.
THIS WEEK I FELL IN LOVE WITH:
These oil on wood paintings by Spanish artist Cinta Vidal.
The end.
Of late, there has been a distinct lack of everything-else-that-isn't-the-universe, and so I would like to think that in the coming months, this everything else will have more time. Please hold while I figure out and/or remember what the everything else actually is.
Same time next week? We should make this a semi-regular date, you and I.
