No.74
This newsletter comes to you 11,414 miles away from where it normally does, as I will be on the other side of the planet until March 10th. This also means that I'm already in tomorrow, a fact that will likely remain confusing and somewhat disorientating for the duration of my stay—the city I'm nearest to, Auckland, is one of two (the other being Wellington) to experience a new day first, as they are both 13 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time.
The sentences below have been lingering, on my mind for a while, and I thought that you would appreciate them more than most. They are from The Book of Disquiet, by Fernando Pessoa.
ON THE JOURNAL LATELY:
Not a great deal, so nothing, but I wrote you a very short story instead.
THIS WEEK I FELL IN LOVE WITH:
Work by Greece-born, California-based artist Eugenia Loli.
The end.
I think I've probably given you more words than normal, so I won't subject you to many more, but if you know of someone, or of many someones, who would also enjoy this newsletter, then your mentioning of it to them would be delightful—I've promised my publisher that I will from this day forwards do a more excellent job of actually shouting (or at least talking loudly, whispering insistently) about my work.
Farewell, see you next sometime.
