No.61
Oh, but there has not been a newsletter for two weeks. I could attribute this to the fact that Saturdays have not really felt like Saturdays lately; they feel like slippery, fruit-that-is-too-bruised days, something I can't quite put my finger on. Or I could just say that there wasn't much I was able to tell you about last week, so I waited. It's probably the latter.
ON THE JOURNAL RECENTLY, HOUSEKEEPING:
A piece of something I wrote while away in the southernmost part of Spain (you may well have read this already), small inspirations, and illustrations that didn't quite make the Instagram cut.
Actually, if you like the things that I write, it might be worth following me on Medium, as this is usually where the words end up first, and you'll then get the option of receiving notifications—I love finding such notifications from people on Medium whose work I devour, and their recent redesign only makes me like the site more. There are a couple of ideas that have possessed me entirely, and I hope to publish those before the end of this month.
Then a brief apology: I was made aware the other week (thanks Claudio) that the 'buy signed books' link on my homepage wasn't working, and so I just wanted to mention that a) it's now working and b) if you would like a signed copy of any of the other translations of either book—like Japanese, Spanish, or Korean—then it's very likely I'll have some copies available, I just haven't gotten around to uploading them to the store yet.
WORK-RELATED NEWS:
This week I had my first editor-author phone call for the new book, and because I was feeling so overwhelmed (in the best way), I completely orgot to ask her whether or not I'm allowed to start shouting about it yet. So in the meantime here are some sunflowers from today:
LABOR DAY SALE:
If you're wondering about prints of untranslatable words, or anything else for that matter, it's probably worth me mentioning that Society6 have 20% off everything and free worldwide shipping for the entire duration of the Labor Day weekend—so until the end of Monday 4th September (I'll be uploading a few new illustrations between now and then too).
The end.
I'd be happy to wait a little longer for the leaves to change, but I get the feeling that autumn is impatient; yesterday I noticed that the Horse Chestnut trees are already throwing their seeds to the floor, and the mornings are bringing condensation to colder windows. I don't want to waste this daylight, I don't want to let the sun soak into the floor if I'm not lying on it—so we must wait.
Farewell, see you next sometime.
