No.37
Greetings humans, and welcome to newsletter number thirty-seven. I missed out last week because there didn't seem to be much of interest to report, but now it feels like all of a sudden there is plenty to tell you about. Let's go.
THINGS THAT HAPPENED ON THE JOURNAL THIS WEEK:
Some flash fiction, and a glimpse into my working days (the photo below makes more sense if you saw the latter post).
BOOK-RELATED NEWS:
The Spanish edition of Lost in Translation is now very much out and about. It had mentionable twirls on El País and El Mundo, and this photo taken by the magical ladies at my agency, JVNLA, shows the growing Lost in Translation family. I believe German will be joining them soon.
Side note: it constantly amazes me how different these turned out; different lettering, cover designs, details. It serves to remind me of the care and attention all these publishers put in to ensure their editions suit so perfectly, gently.
In other news, I have been kept busy preparing for the big day (probably early February) when my next book is put forward to the publisher. If all goes well, they will say 'well this sounds like a hoot' and I can spend the rest of the year creating it. Here's hoping!
I will now proceed to record an author video for my top-secret Japan news. It turns out taking yourself seriously for 1-3 minutes has never been so impossible, because I'm essentially just talking to myself over and over again in an empty room.
You probably don't need reminding:
That Valentine's day is rapidly approaching. Although it's a strange day in a lot of ways, it can be really nice to simply use it as an opportunity to tell someone you care about them so darn much.
With this in mind, I've created a collection of prints with the words from my two books that would likely be well received, like the Spanish saying below, which is just the ticket for expressing love and deep affection. Tomorrow, you can get 20% off and free shipping on everything! How is that for hallelujah.
The end.
Ach, that was a long one. Next time we meet it will be February and that is altogether alarming. I've lived in very close proximity to all things warm (think blankets, hot water bottles, tea after tea after tea) these past few weeks, so I'm really impatient for spring and the return of the Magnolia trees.
Farewell, see you next sometime.
