No.3
I shouldn't tell you that I'm writing this on Saturday morning, a mere 6 hours before it will be sent off, whilst eating blueberries and marvelling at the colour they turn my tongue. I'm still in my pyjamas. This week has been a strange one, a one where things were undone and too much was said. A week where I didn't look up as much as I perhaps should have, a week of missing the ocean. I'm astonished at how quickly the time unravels—soon it will be May, soon September. I'm wondering why I have such as serious case of hiraeth at the moment, why my head is pulling me to anyplace other than the present. We should probably get on with the newsletter.
THINGS THAT HAPPENED ON THE BLOG THIS WEEK:
First Patrick, then some nostalgia (which makes sense now you know about the hiraeth thing), then Julia happened, then I drew 4679 ink circles in a moment of madness, and finally, Earth Day. The last of these is pretty sobering.
In other sort-of-related news, you can now browse the entire library of prints from Lost in Translation (that's my book you know). I was lazy before and put them as 52 options within one product, but now you browse them alphabetically. And actually see the images of course, so I think the improvement is major.
There are also a few limited edition prints left, and several signed copies of the US edition of the book, if that's your thing.
BOOK-RELATED NEWS:
I received the contracts for the German edition of Lost in Translation, and they are, of course, efficient and practical and full of long words (like every other German).
Opposite are some of the languages from the book in French, and they are planning on publishing towards the end of this year (it only took 2 years).
Currently quite a bit of time is taken up with the Spanish translation, which involves doing all the lettering all over again (exactly like those below), but in Spanish. YAY FOR SMALL VARIATIONS.
THINGS NOBODY ELSE HAS SEEN, EVER:
1. This finished version of these moons. I'm debating whether or not to sell the moon part as prints, or maybe with the text too. As you can tell, I don't know.
2. That time I cut words into paper very badly.
3. I'm working on a very abstract very secret personal project. I love them so much I could cry.
A BONUS THING:
Amanda Palmer, speaking to Debbie Millman about things. This quote is from the podcast but I pinched it in this nice format from the website of Tina Roth Eisenberg (who is the loveliest).
The end.
Now I'm going to drag my pyjama-ed self outside and walk, walk, eat (I'll put on real clothes first). It's only 8°C but I find that clean air breeds clarity, and I could do with a bunch of that right now. I'm in that frame of mind where you can accidentally buy a herd of goats, but nothing comes without its risks, and if that does somehow happen then I'm sure you will all enjoy pictures of goats next week very much.
Farewell, see you next sometime.
