No.21
Welcome, greetings, aloha. This week it's going to be a short and sweet newsletter! Things have been, as per usual, madness, but it's important to me to keep a hold on different threads, so this is one of the parts of the week that won't be sacrificed too easily. We should begin before I write more words.
THINGS THAT HAPPENED ON THE BLOG THIS WEEK:
This quote, and a photograph. I'll also include the quote below which was posted into a different social media stratosphere and you therefore might have missed. Somebody lovely reminded me about this On Being interview with Mary Oliver, and it's absolutely worth a listen (or three).
BOOK-RELATED NEWS:
The Telegraph Travel online (UK) featured some illustrations from Speaking in Tongues, which was grand. I also did a short interview with a terribly nice lady working for CityLab (part of The Atlantic) where I may have referred to the book as “a manual of openness, an antidote to the high walls we are determinedly building around ourselves” which sounds very gloomy but really I'm trying to make people's hearts lighter.
Also (sort of) book related news, I'm putting together the necessary pieces to ensure prints of the illustrations from the new book are soon available! They look great and I'll be sure to give you guys a discount code when they're ready so you can practice your sleuth.
SOMETHING I FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS WEEK:
Collage work by UK based artists Adam Hale.
The end.
Phew, that wasn't so bad. I shall now include some additional details about my life in case you were wondering. Coming up this week: I go to BBC Bristol radio studios for an interview and try not to freak out, I do a lot of work, and I go to Gothenburg, Sweden (it's another exciting kinda week). Right now: I'm taking a train to meet a delightful shining human in Oxford, and the entire train journey will be spent shamelessly reading.
Farewell, see you next sometime.
