No.18
Long time no newsletter, huh. Apologies if you've been wondering when exactly the sometimes newsletter will happen. The answer is: usually on a Saturday at 4pm but in this instance, now. I know I don't really need to excuse the silence; life happens, things get in the way and sometimes you have to willingly drop from your hands the routine of work. Let's begin, because we surely have some catching up to do.
THINGS THAT HAPPENED ON THE BLOG THIS WEEK & WORK:
A meditation on time (or the lack thereof), some wondering, tall pieces of the city in which I seem to live, and Ray Bradbury.
In work related news, I'm starting another typographic map for Jodi Ettenberg, who is well-known on the internets (especially the travel/food sectors) as Legal Nomads and she is seriously lovely. We've collaborated on several maps so far, and you can find those here. Woop. I'm trying to get our next map done and dusted before THE RELEASE OF MY NEW BOOK. Breathe breathe breathe I'm totally calm and prepared just kidding.
BOOK-RELATED NEWS:
I know I touched on book news earlier, but I forgot a thing. It's Nice That featured my upcoming book Speaking in Tongues (titled The Illustrated Book of Sayings in the US) in a list of awesome. I'm beyond flattered, as I've frequented this site for a long, long time. They wrote “charmingly illustrated, expertly researched and hilariously written” and I feel suitably cool.
Thanks guys.
THIS WEEK I FELL IN LOVE WITH:
Rather stunning collage work by Nicholas Mottola Jacobsen. Beautiful collages always make me want to go out and cut up magazines with tiny sharp scissors like a rampaging beastly thing.
The end.
That's it, I'm done. This coming week has plenty on, so I can tell you to expect a newsletter Saturday and feel relatively confident it'll happen. I'm fabulously reassuring, I know. In the meantime, thank you for being signed up to this disorganised, unreliable series of something or other.
Farewell, see you next sometime.
